First Wed – Special Ed Conflict Resolution
April 5 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Topic: Special Education Conflict Resolution – Options for When You Disagree with the School System
Feel like your child’s IEP is not being followed? Disagree with the school about your child’s placement or amount of special education services? Not sure what to do about it? Sometimes advocating for your child at an IEP meeting may not be enough to resolve disagreements with the school system. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) provides several ways to resolve conflicts that may arise. This workshop will provide an overview of facilitated IEP meetings, state complaints, mediation, and due process.
What are First Wednesdays?
The First Wednesday Series offers an opportunity for parents, family members, and professionals who advocate for children to learn about special education and school discipline.
