First Wednesdays: Special Education Conflict Resolution

January 3, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Feel like your child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) is not being followed? Disagree with the school about your child’s placement or amount of special education services? Not sure what to do about it? Sometimes advocating for your child at an IEP meeting may not be enough to resolve disagreements with the school system.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) provides several ways to resolve conflicts that may arise. This workshop will provide an overview of facilitated IEP meetings, state complaints, mediation, and due process.

What are First Wednesdays?

The First Wednesday Series of workshops and trainings offers an opportunity for parents, family members, and professionals who advocate for children to learn about special education and school discipline.

This session will take place in Training Room 1 in the Children and Family Services Center at the corner of Davidson and East Fifth Street in Charlotte.
