VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ::
Student Defense Project Volunteers
Student Defense Project Volunteers represent
youth who are facing long-term suspension or exclusion
hearings within Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Born
out of the 2003 Harvard Civil Rights Project, the Student
Defense Project trains attorneys to represent these
children, assuring that their due process rights are
not violated and advocating in the best interest of
the student.
All Student Defense Project Volunteers receive Continuing
Legal Education (CLE) credits for their training. Volunteers
accept cases on a pro bono or sliding scale basis.
