Are you interested in diving deeper into the work of our Custody Advocacy Program? We are excited to announce a new summer book club series that illuminates the imperative work of Council for Children’s Rights. Our CAP staff have chosen to read Donna Jackson Nakazawa’s Childhood Disrupted to highlight the lived experiences of their child clients and the young people they represent.
We invite you and your reading group, bookish friends, and others to join us in reading Childhood Disrupted together and engaging in communal discussion as we read the book and afterwards as CAP will culminate the reading experience with a live-streamed or in-person book club discussion with their team, community leaders, topic experts, and you!
Please register for this event here. Note that you will be able to choose whether you would like to participate in person or virtually.
Join us virtually by joining the Zoom below on June 1, 2022!

If you would like to purchase any or all of the books introduced by our team leads, we recommend you buy from our lovely local neighbors, Main Street Books, Shelves Bookstore, and Park Road Books! Main Street Books has partnered with us for this event and committed to give back 10% of all profits from our three books!
Our staff are excited to discuss the ways in which these books and their information directly relates to the kids they work with each and every day. Please be aware that these books discuss difficult and sensitive topics, including violence, trauma, and abuse, and may be triggering to readers. So that you may have an understanding of what to expect, please look over the summary of Childhood Disrupted below.
