Building your own customized campaign for the Council is a great way to support our kids.
We’ve provided a step-by-step guide to help you set up your account. The first thing to do is set up an account with Just Giving. Click the button below to create an account, then follow the steps below.
Step 2: Click on the lightbulb.
While there are many interesting ways to raise money, we recommend “Doing your own thing.” Click the blue start button under the lightbulb for the next step.
Step 3: Add your details.
In this step you will select the event type, create an event name, and add an event date (optional). There are many options to choose from in the drop down menu for Event type; you can see all 12 selections in the image below. We recommend selecting “something else” unless you’d like to experiment with the other options.
Then create a unique event name and add a date if you like. The web will generate a unique URL for your campaign.
Then click the blue “Create your page” button.
Step 4: Add your first gift.
Now you’re ready to customize your page and add your first gift if you’d like.
Step 5: Customize your page.
You know you’ve been successful when you receive this email in your inbox:
Now it’s time to edit your page. We recommended updating your cover photo first. Click on the “Change cover” button and follow the prompts.
In the top menu you can select:
- “Edit” to update your page title and summary and set your fundraising target;
- “Media” to change your cover image or to add photos;
- “Donations” to add donations made by your supporters who contributed offline;
- and “Settings” to adjust your campaign dates, personalize your thank you message, and find your personal QR code for your campaign.
We recommend you explore and experiment with your page. Have some fun with it!
We highly recommend you set a fundraising target for your campaign to activate the percentage calculation dial on your home page.
Step 6: Share on social media.
Cut and paste your page’s web address (a.k.a. URL) into a post on Facebook or Twitter or into an email to family and friends. Generate more participation by thanking those who give on your social media site and posting updates on your campaign regularly.
(Can find your URL? Check that email you received when you created your account. It will be there.)
